I regularly enjoy my horoscope in the Independent. I find them so wacky and humorous. Every once in a while a gem will go though. This was in last week’s:
“Play is what I
do for a living; the work comes in organizing the results of the play.”
I love this quote. This is my goal in my life and career. I don’t want to work, I want to play. Alot of this I think is mental in that, you have to look at your work as not just work, but something you’re doing because you want to. I you’re doing something you absolutely cannot look at as something you want to do, time to switch gears. Get a new job. Of course you should always try to find joy and happiness in whatever you are doing, but career choice is something I think you can’t do that with for long. Unless you’re a glutten for discipline and know you’ll not have a problem being happy with a job you don’t like for the rest of your life then hey, more power to you. I know I’ll have “jobs” for the rest of my life, but I don’t plan on working a single day.
The quote comes from a book called A Whack on the Side of the Head: How You Can Be More Creative by Roger von Oech
