God Invented Science

So many Christians today are scared of science.  Through a lot of my high school education at a private Christian school we were taught things that basically said “all scientists are atheists and are on a mission to drisprove Christianity. “  There seems to be a grand paranoia among Christians about anything remotely scientific.  I always think “what are you afraid of!  Do you think science is going to disprove the exsistence of God!?!?!  What kind of faith is that?”  As a result of this paranoia a lot of people wholly discount any scientific findings they hear of, shrugging off the hard work of these “evil scientists” while they reap the benefits of the amazing advances it provides us.  I saw this article today by a man who is both a scientist and (gasp) a Christian.  It was refreshing to see this.  Here’s an excerpt:

I have found there is a wonderful harmony in the complementary truths of science and faith. The God of the Bible is also the God of the genome. God can be found in the cathedral or in the laboratory. By investigating God’s majestic and awesome creation, science can actually be a means of worship.

I’ve never heard a better description of science as that, a means of worship.   I hope that Christians can learn to see science in this light.  Searching for knowledge in creation is not questioning God, it is discovering God.  God blessed us with an amazing combination of Intellect and Curiosity.  I think it is just wrong to put these on the shelf, effectively turning off our brains and becoming zombies.  /soapbox
