I’m a big fan of Online Birthday Clubs. Sure, you get the usual ads and stuff through the year, but every once in a while you get something good. And when your birthday rolls around, suddenly your loaded with all these options to celebrate with. Pretty cool. I decided this year to document my Birthday Club fare so that those who do not wish to wade through the duds can pick and choose which club they’d like to join. So here is what this year’s harvest looked like:
| Restaurant | Offer | Arrived | Expires |
| Baskin Robbins |
Two Coupons: One Free Scoop and $3 off a cake. Also since my birthday was the same week as a Grand Re-opening of one of their stores they sent me a VIP pass entitling me to 31ยข scoops. |
5 days before. |
10 days |
| BD’s Mongolian BBQ | One FREE stir-fry meal. |
1 week before |
Two weeks |
| Coldstone Creamery | One FREE creation. |
On the day |
Two weeks |
| Dave and Buster’s | $10 FREE game play. |
1 week before |
33 days |
| Fazoli’s | FREE dessert |
1 week before |
Two weeks |
| Old Chicago | Nothing. They sent me an ad for their current deal. They probably have no birthday deals and this was just a coincidence but amidst all the other deals it felt like a slap. Oh well. |
1 week before |
N/A |
| Red Lobster | $5 off two adult entrees. One shot for printing. |
1 week before |
Two weeks and two days |
| Red Robin | One FREE gourmet burger. |
1 week before |
Two weeks |
My winners this year we’re Red Robin and BD’s. I love both these restaurants and they give you free meals and without a catch. Dave and Buster’s is up there with a great value as well. As usual, Red Lobster lets down. I mean c’mon, 5 bucks would hardly cover the tip on two entrees. I’m sure these aren’t all the online birthday clubs out there. Anyone heard of any others?
Aside from birthdays I’ve found signing up for eclubs and newsletters to be a very good thing. I don’t mind seeing the ads and junk come in, and often they are quite informative. My favorite eClub of all time is Red Robin’s. They periodically will send you surveys on new dishes which I find fun. But the best thing that happened to me because of Red Robin’s eClub is an invitation to a taste testing. They were testing new dishes and me and up to 3 friends got to go for free, and they threw in a $20 gift card for each person. It was alot of fun. They would bring each dish out and the chef would come around and talk to us for a while about what we thought of the dish. Oh man that was good stuff.
